Coffee products.
Coins; banknotes; currency notes (paper money); traveler’s checks; securities payable to bearer; platinum, gold or silver manufactured or not; precious stones; jewelry; and other valuable articles unless sent in insured Priority Mail International parcels.
Fish products—tinned or canned.
Leather goods (handbags, sports goods (volleyballs, footballs, etc.)).
Most foodstuffs and grains (sugar, flour, fruits, and oils).
Paper and writing products (envelopes, ink, pencils, pens, erasers, chalk, etc.).
Radios; tape recording machines and parts thereof.
Textile, apparel, haberdashery, perfume, and cosmetics.

Observations
- Imports into Sri Lanka are restricted not by name but by value and quantity. Any person is eligible to receive gifts other than sarees, suitings, textile, flowers, and flower plants subject to the following provisions:
- Import does not involve any remittance abroad.
- Goods are imported bona-fide for personal use.
- Goods are not in a commercial quantity and not for
resale.
- Import does not involve any abuse of import
regulations.
- A license, to be obtained by the addressee in advance, is required for most goods imported by mail. Therefore, senders should ascertain from the addressee before mailing whether the necessary documents are held.
- No license/import permit is required for bona fide gift shipments (excluding saris, clothing or textiles) provided that the value of the shipment including postage and fees, does not exceed R 250 (rupees).
