UPDATE 233: International Mail Service Updates Related to COVID-19

On April 4, 2022, the Postal Service received notifications from various postal operators regarding changes in international mail services due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

China UPDATE: China Post has advised that in order to prevent further transmission of COVID-19, the processing of inbound mail is temporarily affected at Shanghai, Changchun and Yanji mail processing centers until further notice. Currently, China Post cannot process or transport to sorting centers/delivery offices inbound mail received by the above-mentioned offices of exchange. This directly delays the processing, transiting and delivery of inbound mail. As a result, China Post is declaring a situation of force majeure in regard to the above offices of exchange for all inbound letter-post, parcel-post, and EMS items.

Colombia UPDATE: Servicios Postales Nacionales S.A. 4-72 has advised that postal services are now back to normal.

France UPDATE: La Poste has advised that following the latest announcements by the Prime Minister on the relaxation of public health measures throughout the country, the difficulties announced through previous messages have now been resolved. While distancing measures remain in place for staff and customers, La Poste can announce a return to normal for its postal operations across its network and is able to guarantee compliance with delivery standards and deadlines for all letter-post, parcel-post, and EMS products.

Thailand UPDATE: Thailand Post has advised that the Thai Government has extended the nationwide state of emergency with regard to the COVID-19 pandemic for a further two months, effective from April 1 to May 31, 2022. Therefore, the previously announced restrictions announced will continue to apply.

Unless otherwise noted, service updates to a particular country do not affect delivery of military and diplomatic mail.

This service update affects Priority Mail Express International® (PMEI), Priority Mail International® (PMI), First-Class Mail International® (FCMI), First-Class Package International Service® (FCPIS®), International Priority Airmail® (IPA®), International Surface Air Lift® (ISAL®), and M-Bag® items.

The DMM Advisory will continue to provide updates as they are received. For a full list of international service disruptions, please visit https://about.usps.com/newsroom/service-alerts/international/welcome.htm
