Revision to Registered Mail Fee
Registered Mail is the most secured mailing service the USPS offers. Registered Mail provides the sender with a mailing receipt and, upon request, electronic verification that an article was delivered or that a delivery attempt was made.
Before July 9, the Domestic Mail Manual reflected escalating fees for Registered Mail with a declared value over $50,000.
Effective July 9, 2023, the United States Postal Service will implement the following changes to the Registered Mail declared value:
- Domestic Mail Manual (503.2.1.1) will no longer reflect escalating handling fees for Registered Mail items with a declared value over $50,000.
- Notice 123 will reflect Registered Mail items with a declared value of more than $50,000 with a flat fee for handling. The maximum amount of insurance coverage available will remain at $50,000.
