UPDATE 205: International Mail Service Updates Related to COVID-19

On October 5, 2021, the Postal Service received notifications from various postal operators regarding changes in international mail services due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The following countries have provided updates to certain mail services:

Fiji UPDATE: Post Fiji Ltd has advised that the border restrictions on the main island (Viti Levu) have now been lifted, but flights to the outer islands are still cancelled. Post Fiji is therefore using sea conveyance to ship mails, including EMS items, but this depends on sailing schedules. It is able to send and receive international mails via transit hubs in Australia and New Zealand. Fiji currently has weekly flight connections with those two countries and the United States.

Macao UPDATE: Macao Post has advised that, in order to minimalize the threat of COVID-19, the Macao Special Administrative Region has announced that civil servants will not be required to work from October 5 -7, 2021. As a result, postal services will be suspended during this period.

Sri Lanka UPDATE: The Department of Posts has advised that the Government of Sri Lanka lifted the national lockdown as of October 1, 2021. All mail items sent to Sri Lanka will be processed and delivered in compliance with the government-imposed restrictions and safety guidelines. The office of exchange and all other mail processing centers are operating with a reduced workforce impacting delivery standards for all categories of mail. Therefore, the Department of Posts is unable to guarantee compliance with the agreed delivery standards for all mail categories.

Unless otherwise noted, service updates to a particular country do not affect delivery of military and diplomatic mail.

These service updates affect Priority Mail Express International® (PMEI), Priority Mail International® (PMI), First-Class Mail International® (FCMI), First-Class Package International Service® (FCPIS®), International Priority Airmail® (IPA®), International Surface Air Lift® (ISAL®), and M-Bag® items.

The DMM Advisory will continue to provide updates as they are received. For a full list of international service disruptions, please visit https://about.usps.com/newsroom/service-alerts/international/welcome.htm
