Updated Mail Service Information Following Hurricane Sandy
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to restore mail service following Hurricane Sandy, which struck some of the most populated areas of our country and impacted a large number of our facilities. We are working to normalize operations as quickly as possible. We will make every effort to keep you informed and will post this information so it can be easily accessed.
We have significantly updated the Mail Service Update page http://about.usps.com/news/service-alerts/welcome.htm to reflect the latest information for plant and DDU dropship impacts, remittance and BME impacts, and a list of impacted 5-Digit delivery zones. The PostalOne!® contingency plan for BMEs without power is also on the site. When we update the Mail Service Update page we will include the date and time of the update and highlight what has changed.
We have also significantly updated the Mail Service Disruption report. The DDU file with the list of delivery units not accepting drop shipments was updated yesterday morning.
Please ensure your logistics teams are making appointments at impacted entry points. Even with recurring appointments, mailers must schedule to secure a slot. Please note:
- Dropship mail redirected from Dominic V. Daniels to Northern New Jersey: Appointment window is 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week, with 12 appointments accepted daily for 070-073.
- Dropship mail for Northern New Jersey: Appointment window is 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week, with 12 appointments accepted daily for 074-076, 078.
Thank you for your patience and thank you to our customers and industry stakeholders for sharing your feedback on what you are seeing and what kind of information would be helpful. If you have any questions, concerns, opinions or ideas on this process, please contact your local BSN Specialist or Representative.
