UPDATE 219: International Mail Service Updates Related to COVID-19

On January 28, 2022, the Postal Service received notifications from various postal operators regarding changes in international mail services due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The following countries have provided updates to certain mail services:

Germany UPDATE: Deutsche Post has advised that due to a significant increase in the number of COVID-19 infections among its operational staff and in view of measures to limit the spread of the virus, delays are to be expected in the processing and delivery of inbound and outbound postal items.

New Zealand UPDATE: New Zealand Post has advised that the Government of New Zealand has announced the application of the red setting of the “traffic lights” COVID-19 protection framework throughout the country as of January 23, 2022, impacting New Zealand Post’s operational performance in terms of processing, transport, sorting and delivery of mail.

Unless otherwise noted, service updates to a particular country do not affect delivery of military and diplomatic mail.

These service updates affect Priority Mail Express International® (PMEI), Priority Mail International® (PMI), First-Class Mail International® (FCMI), First-Class Package International Service® (FCPIS®), International Priority Airmail® (IPA®), International Surface Air Lift® (ISAL®), and M-Bag® items.
