UPDATE 163 International Mail Service Updates Related to COVID-19
On April 29, 2021, the Postal Service received notifications from various postal operators regarding changes in international mail services due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
The following countries have provided updates to certain mail services:
India UPDATE: The Department of Posts (India Post), the designated operator of India, received notification that as a result of COVID-19, certain restrictions have been reintroduced in the country. India Post continues to accept inbound international mail (letter-post, parcel-post and EMS items); however, due to the limited domestic transport capacity, the declared or otherwise agreed service delivery standards (including delivery times and other quality parameters) cannot be guaranteed.
Nepal UPDATE: Nepal Post, the designated operator of Nepal, received notification that due to high rates of COVID-19, the Nepalese Government has announced a two-week lockdown in the Kathmandu Valley and nearby cities effective April 29, 2021. This measure may result in delays to collection and delivery of mail. Nepal Post is still unable to accept outbound items to countries other than India.
Slovakia UPDATE: Slovenská Pošta, the designated operator of Slovakia, received notification that due to COVID-19, the Slovakian Government has extended the state of emergency by 30 days, effective April 29, 2021. Slovenská Pošta will continue to provide postal services in line with public health measures and other restrictions, but with a reduced workforce. The processing and delivery of inbound and outbound mail (letter-post, parcel-post and EMS items) will continue to be affected, and Slovenská Pošta is unable to guarantee compliance with the agreed standards. The situation of force majeure is extended until further notice.
Unless otherwise noted, service updates to a particular country do not affect delivery of military and diplomatic mail.
These service updates affect Priority Mail Express International® (PMEI), Priority Mail International® (PMI), First-Class Mail International® (FCMI), First-Class Package International Service® (FCPIS®), International Priority Airmail® (IPA®), International Surface Air Lift® (ISAL®), and M-Bag® items.
The DMM Advisory will continue to provide updates as they are received. For a full list of international service disruptions, please visit https://about.usps.com/newsroom/service-alerts/international/welcome.htm
