UPDATE 180: International Mail Service Updates Related to COVID-19
On June 21, 2021, the Department of Posts, the designated operator of Sri Lanka, provided notification that the Government of Sri Lanka has temporarily lifted the island-wide strict travel restrictions as of June 21, 2021. However, in order to prevent the further spread of the pandemic, all mail sent to Sri Lanka will be processed and delivered in accordance with the government’s restrictions and safety guidelines. The office of exchange and all other mail sorting centres are operating with a reduced workforce. Outbound mail transport is still restricted to a limited number of destinations. These measures will continue to impact delivery standards for all categories of mail. Therefore, the Department of Posts is unable to guarantee compliance with the agreed delivery standards for all mail categories.
Unless otherwise noted, service updates to a particular country do not affect delivery of military and diplomatic mail.
This service update affects Priority Mail Express International® (PMEI), Priority Mail International® (PMI), First-Class Mail International® (FCMI), First-Class Package International Service® (FCPIS®), International Priority Airmail® (IPA®), International Surface Air Lift® (ISAL®), and M-Bag® items.
The DMM Advisory will continue to provide updates as they are received. For a full list of international service disruptions, please visit https://about.usps.com/newsroom/service-alerts/international/welcome.htm
