UPDATE 187: International Mail Service Updates Related to COVID-19
On July 29, 2021, The National Postal Corporation (Iposita), the designated operator of Rwanda, provided notification that, in order to reinforce the measures aimed at combating the spread of COVID-19, the Rwandan Government has decided to extend the lockdown declared in the capital, Kigali, and in eight other districts (Burera, Gicumbi, Kamonyi, Musanze, Nyagatare, Rubavu, Rwamagana and Rutsiro), until July 31, 2021. A travel ban is in place between Kigali and other provinces, as well as between other districts. This decision will remain in force until July 31, 2021, and in certain areas until August 10, 2021. Iposita's operational performance in Kigali and the other affected districts will be severely impacted by these measures, since they limit its processing and delivery resources and affect its capacity in terms of volume and quality of service.
Unless otherwise noted, service updates to a particular country do not affect delivery of military and diplomatic mail.
This service update affects Priority Mail Express International® (PMEI), Priority Mail International® (PMI), First-Class Mail International® (FCMI), First-Class Package International Service® (FCPIS®), International Priority Airmail® (IPA®), International Surface Air Lift® (ISAL®), and M-Bag® items.
The DMM Advisory will continue to provide updates as they are received. For a full list of international service disruptions, please visit https://about.usps.com/newsroom/service-alerts/international/welcome.htm
