UPDATE 93: International Mail Service Updates Related to COVID-19

On October 5, 2020, the Postal Service received notifications from various postal operators regarding changes in international mail services due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The following countries have provided updates to certain mail services:

Estonia UPDATE: Estonian Post has advised that effective October 1, all inbound items will be delivered as follows:

  • delivery standards will be met as agreed;
  • boxable registered letters (under 2 cm thick) will be delivered to the addressee’s mailbox without a signature being collected; registered letters over 2 cm thick will be handed over at post offices;
  • all items requiring a signature will be delivered to the addressee; a photo will be taken of the address card signed by the addressee;
  • couriers will not enter addressees’ premises during delivery; all deliveries will be made outdoors.

Zimbabwe UPDATE: Zimbabwe Posts (Pvt) Ltd (Zimpost) has advised that effective October 1, 2020, both inbound and outbound mail will be handled in line with government measures and guidelines intended to curtail the spike in COVID-19 infections. As a result, Zimpost is still unable to guarantee delivery standards.

Unless otherwise noted, service updates to a particular country do not affect delivery of military and diplomatic mail.

These service updates affect Priority Mail Express International® (PMEI), Priority Mail International® (PMI), First-Class Mail International® (FCMI), First-Class Package International Service® (FCPIS®), International Priority Airmail® (IPA®), International Surface Air Lift® (ISAL®), and M-Bag® items.
