UPDATE 95: International Mail Service Updates Related to COVID-19

On October 22, 2020, the Postal Service received notifications from various postal operators regarding changes in international mail services due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The following countries have provided updates to certain mail services:

Jamaica UPDATE: Jamaica Post has advised that the Government of Jamaica has extended the national curfew until November 1, 2020. Additionally, the force majeure previously announced continues to apply, with an impact on quality of service for all types of mail, including inbound and outbound letter-post, parcel-post and Express Mail Service (EMS) items.

Slovenia UPDATE: Pošta Slovenije has advised that Slovenia is experiencing a second wave of the coronavirus and that a 30-day state of coronavirus epidemic has been officially declared by the Slovenian government for the entire country, starting on October 19, 2020. As a result, the quality of service for all types of inbound and outbound mail (EMS, parcel post and letter post) cannot be guaranteed. The impact is expected to last until the end of the epidemic. For this reason, a situation of force majeure is again invoked with respect to quality of service until the situation is back to normal.

Thailand UPDATE: Thailand Post has advised that all postal services are back to normal as of October 21, 2020. However, delays are expected for outbound mail (letter post, parcel post and EMS), owing to the limited number of flights.

Unless otherwise noted, service updates to a particular country do not affect delivery of military and diplomatic mail.

These service updates affect Priority Mail Express International® (PMEI), Priority Mail International® (PMI), First-Class Mail International® (FCMI), First-Class Package International Service® (FCPIS®), International Priority Airmail® (IPA®), International Surface Air Lift® (ISAL®), and M-Bag® items.
