UPDATE 98: International Mail Service Updates Related to COVID-19

On October 29, 2020, the Postal Service received notifications from various postal operators regarding changes in international mail services due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The following countries have provided updates to certain mail services:

France UPDATE: La Poste has advised that the French President announced a new lockdown until at least December 1, 2020. As a result, La Poste will not be able to guarantee delivery standards or times. Delays in the processing and delivery of mail are to be expected throughout the country. Consequently, all previous measures will continue to apply and force majeure will remain in effect.

Poland UPDATE: Poczta Polska has advised that the measures aimed at slowing the spread of COVID-19 are still in force in Poland and will continue to affect its services. All previous measures remain in place, with the exception of insured parcel-post and EMS items addressed to persons in quarantine. For these items the addressee will be contacted by telephone if possible before attempted delivery. If it is not possible to deliver the item to the addressee, it will be returned to the post office for temporary storage, and no notice will be left. The delivery will be attempted again once the quarantine is over.

Samoa UPDATE: Samoa Post has advised that the state of emergency has been extended until November 22, 2020. As a result, all previous measures remain in place.

Unless otherwise noted, service updates to a particular country do not affect delivery of military and diplomatic mail.

These service updates affect Priority Mail Express International® (PMEI), Priority Mail International® (PMI), First-Class Mail International® (FCMI), First-Class Package International Service® (FCPIS®), International Priority Airmail® (IPA®), International Surface Air Lift® (ISAL®), and M-Bag® items.

The DMM Advisory will continue to provide updates as they are received. For a full list of international service disruptions, please visit https://about.usps.com/newsroom/service-alerts/international/welcome.htm
